What is Wearlon?
The unique waterborne Wearlon chemistry grafts silicone
molecules to epoxy molecules, thereby distributing the silicone throughout the
epoxy matrix. There are no free silicones. We are able to control the "non-stick"-ness
of the system by adjusting the ratio of
silicone.
- Silicone is the non-stick, hydrophobic, lubricious
component.
- Epoxy is the hardness, adhesion component.
Wearlon is waterbased, non-toxic, environmentally friendly,
low V.O.C. and meets EPA, USDA and FDA 21 CFR 175.300 Requirements.
How different is Wearlon?
Non-Stick
The non-migratory, non stick properties of
Wearlon make it ideal for use as a maintenance coating, with many processing aid
applications in the
manufacture of plastics, paper, textiles and packaging over a wide temperature
range, wet or dry.
Foul-Release
The hydrophobic, low surface energy,
non-stick properties of Wearlon result in low biofouling adhesion. This is true
of Zebra Mussels, Quagga Mussels and all bacterial and algal bioforms. Of
course the low adhesion applies to other substances too, like spray paint, ice,
tar, grease and other potential contaminates. Foul-release means easy
clean.
Maintenance Friendly
Wearlon's hard abrasion resistant properties and
its excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates makes it conducive to
repeated cleanings by water jet or "pigging" system during routine
planned maintenance shutdowns. It won't just flake off or wear away! Lubricity
The friction reduction properties of
Wearlon make it suitable as a dry lubricant for slide valves, cutting
blades, head gates and rails and other moving components.
Anti-Corrosive
Wearlon offers superior surface protection in both fresh
and salt water environments, and extends the life of steel, iron, aluminum,
concrete and a wide range of other substrates.
Low Environmental Impact
From the low VOC rating of Wearlon's water
base chemistry to its non-toxic, non-leaching working principle, Wearlon
has minimal environmental impact.
And Much More Too! Wearlon's foul release system is actually a
full maintenance coating system with all the properties you would expect from a
premium maintenance coating system. ie:
- Above and below water performance
- Wide temperature operating range
- Excellent Solvent Resistance
- Thin film, single coat protection
